30 Day Streak of Duolingo

I can’t believe myself, but I had actually dilligently tried to sit down every evening to spend half and hour or so practicing Spanish on Duolinguo. I hadn’t expected that it would be easy, or that the ladder ranking system made sense as a means to keep me engaged, but it did. Especially on days where I am totally feeling unmotivated to learn, the rankings was actually the thing that kept me going. It is an interesting self-discovery.

In terms of language capability, for simple phrases, I am able to understand them as long as its within the confines of the Duolingo app. Outside it, it’s still very much a hit (and mostly) miss when Womanfriend throws me a random phrase, even though my vocabulary of things have increased.

In addition, I have started to try using Anki flashcards as a memory aid - there were some people out there saying that it has good efficacy for a very little amount of time/effort put in. I’ll give it a try and report back on whether if that worked out.

I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep a streak, but if I can laterally transfer the motivation from Duolingo into my workouts, that would be fabulous! :D

We shall see.
