So Womanfriend Got A Car
We rented a car for the day, and went out to Ardgillan and Skerries for a short vacation.
Womanfriend hadn’t driven for a while, and also being from Continental Europe, it’s a bit of an adjustment driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road - so we thought to start with something easy, and go somewhere near and where there’s not too many parking challenges, especially with an unfamiliar car. The drive itself was thankfully uneventful, and it wasn’t long before she got the hang of it.
It’s my first time out to Ardgillan Castle, and I’m really impressed with how well kept it is. The weather being amazing helped loads too - it’s probably the one of the warmest in Dublin that I’ve remembered, just walking out in T-shirt, and sunny. It’s those days that you’d complain that it’s hot, if not for the fact that you just don’t get many of such days here.
More Fish Food
We spent late afternoon in Skerries, going to the mills, then around town and the harbour for some lunch. We went to “Stoop Your Head” (hehehe), and had some really lovely seafood there - highly recommend it if anybody had a chance to be there.
The seafood, while great, always comes with a batter of some sort, Womanfriend wasn’t particularly impressed by it, given that there’s better treatment to fish that would make it taste better, but having fish being visible, as I understood just isn’t a palatable thing here - people are skittish about being able to see the animal that they are eating, so it has to be covered up. :P
